Heat resistant pyroceram glass is ideal for wood stoves. Made from a patented Borosilicate formula (similar to Neoceram, Pyrex, and Robax), you can count on this superior material to resist shattering due to extreme heat fluctuations. The thermal shock rating of 1380° F makes it compatible with gasketed stove applications. We offer our 3/16" thick, amber tinted pyroceram in a variety of shapes and sizes to suit your specific needs. All of our glass comes with a seamed edge finish, which has been lightly sanded to eliminate sharp areas.

Some important things to remember:

  • Glass expands when heated! Please request your cut of glass to be at least 1/8" shy of the mounting surface. This measurement will allow for a safe thermal expansion. We cannot be held responsible for breaks due to improper calculations!
  • Metal screws and mounting hardware also expand when exposed to high temperatures! To avoid damage to your glass when your appliance is in use, please do not over-tighten hardware. We cannot be held responsible for breaks due to hardware that has been secured too firmly.
  • Please submit any additional information, questions, or concerns you may have about your online glass request to the "Notes" box on this product page.

If there is just a crack in my wood stove glass, can't I just repair it?

For safety reasons, we highly recommend replacing your glass even if it is a small crack. This area will quickly become weak and unable to tolerate the heat and pressure from within your stove. At any time, the glass could shatter. (Fast Replacement Glass says, "Consider the crack your warning!") Damaged glass not only creates a hazard, but decreases your stove's efficiency.

When you replace your wood stove glass, be sure to select the correct type. Our amber transparent pyroceram glass is manufactured to withstand the intense temperatures generated by the fire inside your wood stove.

Why shouldn't I install tempered replacement glass for my wood stove?

While it is true that tempered glass is a higher strength solution, please keep in mind that it is only rated to 400° F. Therefore, it is recommended only for factory zero-clearance fireplaces, rather than stoves.

What if the glass that I need is not perfectly square, and needs to be cut to a pattern?

We have many pattern cuts, measuring up to 36" x 20" for your wood stove. We also have the ability to cut your glass to fractional measurements that may not be listed on our product pages. Please give us a call at 1-888-986-1535 to submit your specifications!

Do I need a high temperature sealant to bond my replacement glass to the stove door?

Please do not use a sealant, high temperature or otherwise, when installing your wood stove replacement glass. Sealant will prevent the pyroceram from expanding and contracting with the door (as it does when exposed to the temperature fluctuations of a fire). This lack of movement will cause the glass to break. Ceramic glass is actually held in place by mounting hardware. These clips push the glass against the gasket, forming an airtight seal that will also allow the pyroceram to expand. Be sure not to overtighten your hardware, as this can also lead to glass damage.

For all of your pyroceram glass needs:
  • We recommend a rope fiberglass gasket and high temperature cement for most installs. However, if your wood stove requires a flat or tadpole gasket, we have these options available, as well.
  • Need a custom size? We'd be happy to oblige! Simply call us at 1-888-986-1535 for more information!

Fast Replacement Glass specializes in custom cut glass to fit your application, no matter what the brand and model! In no time, you'll be able to enjoy the beauty of the flames, along with the comfort of knowing that your new pyroceram glass meets all safety standards.
