There are some choices when it comes to the edge finish of your custom glass. The most common option for heating applications is a seamed edge. Typically, a polished edge finish is reserved for decorative glass such as mirror and shelves. Let's take a closer look at some of the different styles:

• SEAMED
  A seamed glass edge is the most economical finish for fireplaces, stoves, and inserts. Seamed edges are sanded so that are not sharp. However, they may still be somewhat rough and display minimal chipping. The edges on your heating application will not show once installed in your fireplace or stove door. Additionally, they will also be sealed with a rope or tadpole gasket once installed. Therefore, a completely smooth and polished finish is unnecessary for heating application glass.

• FLAT POLISH
  Often referred to as a "machine polish", this particular finish displays a shiny, flat edge with a 45 degree chamfer at the top and bottom. (Basically, a chamfer is a sloped surface.) This is usually seen on table tops, and really draws attention to the thickness of the glass. 

• PENCIL POLISH
  This finish-upgrade adds an touch of elegance to table tops and shelves. Pencil polishes feature a rounded edge and have a completely smooth and glossy texture.

• BEVELED EDGE
  There is something extremely classy, refined, and artistic about this finish style! Enjoy the deep angles and glossy appearance of this ornate edge design!
