I'm replacing the glass gasket on my Baby Ben Jamestown pellet stove for the first time in 22 years. I note, as it came from the factory, the existing glass gasket does no go all around the glass. It only covers three sides...not the top. Is this for a reason? or should I go ahead and replace the gasket including on the top?

The gap on the top is necessary and it's that airwash system to keep your glass clean, so if you get replacement gasket do not close that gap.
