Description

A.W. Perkins black furnace cement comes premixed and ready to use in a standard caulking gun! When it comes to home repair projects, this is the perfect fix for bonding and sealing metal to metal, or metal to masonry! With a bead as small as 1/8", this smooth consistency material restores and protects with amazing efficiency. Seal a crack in your woodstove or between firebricks, or use anywhere that a high temperature adhesive is required. It will even serve as a glue for ceramic logs sets! This versatile furnace cement is rated to 2000°F, making it one of the most substantial fire products available!

  • Preparation:

    • Please be sure to wear rubber gloves and eye protection during application of this product. Protect your work area from accidental spills with a tarp or drop cloth. Be sure the fire is extinguished and that all surfaces are cool to the touch. Thoroughly remove all dirt, rust and foreign matter from the surface to be bonded.
  • To use:
    • Insert cartridge in the caulking gun and cut the tip at an angle to desired diameter (1/8"). Dampen area lightly with warm water and apply cement. Allow at least 24 hours for setting. When first starting a fire after applying cement, start with gradual heat to cure. Cement must be cured to reach its maximum strength.
  • To remove excess:
    • If cement is still wet, water can be used to clean up excess. Glass and enamel surfaces must be wiped with warm water immediately or permanent etching will occur.
    • If dry and cured, cement must be removed by sanding, scraping, or sandblasting. Dried cement cannot be removed from glass or enamel.

How to caulk like pro!Silicone & Caulking Tips: DiY like a Pro!

  1. Product cartridge fits into a standard caulking gun. For clean application, cut the cartridge tip near the end, at an approximate 45° angle.
  2. Ensure that the working surface is clean, dry, and free of debris. Have some damp cloths or a roll of paper towels within reach. Lay down newspaper to protect carpet/flooring from possible drips.
  3. To lay a professional bead, hold the caulking gun at 45°. Spin the cartridge tube so the longest part of your tip is aligned with the top side of the caulking gun.
  4. Beginning at the highest point of your working area, slowly and gently squeeze the trigger and drag the gun to lay an even bead (about 1/8").
  5. For a clean job, remember that "A little goes a long way!" Try to be consistent when laying a bead - you can always go back and add more material later.
  6. As you near the end of the working area, release the trigger (or press the release lever) to stop the flow of material.
  7. After applying the material, let it cure for the indicated amount of time (at room temperature) before using your appliance.
